Chipotle

I was so happy to see that Chipotle now has brown rice as an option and the makes it one of the healthiest fast foods around. I prefer the vegetarian bowl because you eliminate the complex carbs found in the tortilla and you get free guacamole.

Restaurant Alma / Minneapolis MN

Sea of Change / Minneapolis / Sustainable and Responsible

James Beard Award-winning chef Tim McKee does it again but with a new twist, Sustainable seafood selections. Tim has rocked the food world with French hit La Belle Vie and Spanish wonder Solera. As far as I am concerned you have not eaten in the Twin cities until you have been to these amazing establishments. At Sea of Change we had some amazing dishes. Raw langostinos and Braised Octopus. The interior of the restaurant is amazing and is worth the visit just to see the splash on interior decorating.

Kyoto is one of our new local favorites for Sushi and Chilled Saki. They have two menus, one is all you can eat and the other is
a la carte. Our Friends Amor and Nicole own this restaurant and started in the sushi business when they opened Akita in Woodbury . We have taken my Father to Kyoto and he was extremely impressed with the quality of the entire menu. My Father has spent a lot of time in Japan traveling all over the country side for months and knows good Japanese cuisine. The place is amazing do not miss out on this wonderful Japanese culinary gem!

Another fantastic and extremely creative stand alone restaurant in the Twin Cities that is for sure in our Top Ten in Minnesota. Chef J.D. Fratzke has an amazing menu that includes some of our favorites like. Fried Oysters, Grilled Caesar salad, smoked salmon french fries and beans on toast. The Chef has structured the menu so that you can taste several dishes and not have a huge hole in your wallet at the end of the night. All the Beef is grass fed and he uses all natural oils to fry with. No Hydrogenated oils for deep frying.
This place is a must and gets our highest marks for consistency and creativity.

The Jewel of South Minneapolis / Cafe Levain

Cafe Levain
4762 Chicago Ave S
Minneapolis, MN
55407

In the spirit of creativity we all need to get out and support mom and pop stand alone companies, especially restaurants. Big box chains that serve the same food nation wide are monopolies and should be avoided. We should frequent these restaurants to support the individual creative chefs and small business owners that use local and organic ingredients. Restaurants like Cafe Levain (http://www.cafelevain.com/), located in South Minneapolis, use local, wholesome ingredients and grass fed beef. I have been to this neighborhood restaurant three times and the food is amazing. Kate, my favorite waitress, pairs each course with a glass of wine for me per my request and completely recommend that you ask for her when you make reservations. The deserts are amazing too so save room! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Yours Truly

Rivertown Inn

My lovely wife, Lindy surprised me one night and took me to an exquisite restaurant in Stillwater, MN called the Rivertown Inn. At this classy Inn we mingled with the other dinner guests, sipped on a glass of wine and ate a few appetizers, while waiting for dinner to be ready. Then we were escorted to the dining room where they served us a four-course tasty dinner. The Chef himself came out before each course and explained what part of the country he got the inspiration from and spoke about the delightful spices. My wife and I had a blast meeting new folks, having wonderful conversations and having the privilege of tasting the wonderful dishes that were prepared for us. Oh…. and of course the wine!! ~Who’s wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine?? …..
